Quick! Chope a spot in JC with DSA!

DSA - Direct School Admission is your child's early admission ticket into Singapore's Junior College, where 70% of students land a dream spot in local universities, The clear shift from the sole focus on academics to the holistic take on a student's competencies has benefitted many, and your child can too. Before you embark on this journey, understand what it takes to make your right decision.

What is DSA?

With Direct School Admission into JC, students can apply to a JC before taking their GCE O Level exams.

What is the basis of DSA?

Students who demonstrate their talent in sports, CCAs and specific academic areas can apply using said talent. While students many apply for EAE simultaneously, note that they may not accept offers from both DSA and EAE (if offered).

Why is there DSA?

It was introduced in 2004 by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to build a broad-based education system that valued its students beyond their academic performance. Students progressing from secondary schools to tertiary education can enjoy more flexibility and options to gain entry into their dream school and course. Schools, on the other hand, can admit students based on a more complete and holistic assessment of a students' academic and non-academic capabilities.

How to apply

Each school has their own procedure and documentation required. Generally, all schools abide by the following timeline starting from early May. Links to the summary of the school's program and website can be found below.

Note that students who do not succeed in getting an offer OR missed applying in Phase 1 can continue to apply for a school participating in Phase 2. Not all schools participating in Phase 1 are available in Phase 2, so do pay attention!

Students will be guaranteed a place in their school only if they qualify based on their O Level results. Students are strictly not allowed to participate in JAE if they have accepted an offer through DSA-JC.

What documents do I need to submit?

As different schools offer different types of programmes, the category of non-academic performance they accept varies. Consult the individual school's DSA page for the specific breakdown of requirements needed. As a guideline, these are some documents that are generally required, subject to each school's differences

  • Portfolio

Note the following important dates! Schools will inform applicants of the outcomes by

  • Thursday, 11 August 2022 for Phase 1 applications

How to accept
